  1. In the fall of 2004 and spring of 2005 at the age of 49 I found myself in the emergency room and intensive care 3 times for my asthma. At that time I weighed 227 lbs. I am only 5’7” tall.
It was then that I realized I need to get in shape to save myself. I got my old mountain bike out of the attic and dusted it off. I started riding 3-4 times a week. On one of these outings while passing the convention center on Lake Monona in Madison Wisconsin I noticed a lot more activity than usual.
I then noticed the big screen on the back of a semi. IRONMAN WISCONSIN.
I had never seen a triathlon so I stopped and gathered information. I decided to come back on Sunday and watch the swim.
Sunday morning I showed up with my camera, a cup of coffee and 2 doughnuts. I couldn’t believe all the people. Just seeing all the people that were there on a Sunday morning at 6:30 am surprised me. I couldn’t believe I never knew about this. I saw a young girl on her dad’s shoulders holding a sign that said “ Go Mom”; I still get watery eyes when I think about it. I stayed until the last person was out of the water and that is when I was going to leave. However, being a bicyclist myself I had to go to Verona and watch them go through town. To my Surprise this was bigger than the swim start. People were cheering and holding signs for their favorite rider. Some were dads, some were moms, some were kids, and some were older than me, Hmmmm.
I ended up getting home around 4:00 pm that evening. The seed had been planted.
I could do this. I could already ride 50 miles and I had done 150 miles some yrs. ago for the best damn bike tour. Although my breathing had taken a beating since then. .
I would also have to learn to swim. Then there was the issue of the 26-mile run.
But I still believe I can do it.
That was 5 years ago. I have since lost 65 lbs and done multiple triathlons including 2 Ironmen.
Before my first one I contacted Michael of Infinit. He told me of his keeping it simple plan. For the last 3 years I have followed that advice with great success.

  2. Couch Potato Woman to Iron Woman:
Back in November, I was a "nearly 50 year old woman" who hadn't worked out in 3 years. I needed to get back out there - I'd been active in my 20s and early 30s, but somehow life (ok, and champagne, and cheese, and bread and...) got in the way. I had made myself a promise way WAY back in those "athletic days" - when I read the first reports about the Ironman in 1987 - that I would do that "before I was 50."

Well, it was time for the rubber to meet the road (so to speak).

I joined The IronTeam Team in Training for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Every day, we had something that we had to do to move us along towards that Ironman "way off in the future" that we had signed up for. (That "future" is now about a month away - IM-Louisville.)

Our coaches explained that there are really 4 disciplines in Ironman - swim, bike, run, and nutrition. I started playing with different "concoctions" that folks on the team, and the coaches, recommended. Sometimes I felt like we were all drug addicts; conversations went like this:

"Oh, you're off the CarboPro? How long's it been?" or
"Don't you get too much of a buzz off that? I need a longer sustained high." or
"No, you need to cut that with a little of this electrolyte mix, you need a perfect ratio..."
(Sounds like drug dealers, doncha think?)

That, of course, and our often repeated joke, "You know you're on Ironteam when your 'nutrition' budget surpasses your 'real food' budget."

I did our 1/2 Ironman a few months ago, and had an AWFUL time. I'll spare you the details. I started tinkering madly with my Nutrition from there, because what I was using OBVIOUSLY was NOT working. I did more research on nutrition than I did for my job (I'm an attorney!)

When I found Infinit, I was cautiously optimistic. Using "just" Infinit would solve a lot of my math-challenged issues (2 scoops of this plus 1/2 scoop of that plus 1/2 a bar of this plus...), plus (if it REALLY worked) it would cost LESS than what I was already doing.

The first time I tried Infinit was on a 3/4 Iron weekend. 2 mile lake swim, 100-ish mile bike, 16 mile run. I looked like a turtle, carrying NOT ONLY the Infinit BUT ALSO all the other nutrition with me "just in case."

The Infinit worked like a charm. Next, a long and VERY hot century ride. No problems. Teammates were puking their guts out, bonking, etc. - I was just sipping away, feeling fine.

Last weekend, we had a triple brick (30 mile bike/1 hour run x 3). Once again, I set off with my Infinit, but also various other "sundries" just in case. (Thermalytes, some Shot Bloks, etc.) No need. Wow. I have becoming quite a pest about Infinit now. I think everyone should use it.

Wel, that's a long story - maybe too long for the label. But it's heartfelt, and it's true. I've also hooked up a marathoner friend in Scotland with Infinit - so we're spreading the word internationally!

If this is your first bag of Infinit - you are going to be pleasantly surprised, I swear. This stuff is a Wonder. Good luck in whatever endeavor you're tackling - and congratulations on making the decision to make Infinit part of your strategy!

  3. I have always had a sensitive stomach. And darn it, all the yummy gu's and blox tend to upset it more and more, so when it was time to get ready for my first iron distance race, a friend mentioned Infinit, and I am so glad they did!

At Gulf Coast in 2007 I met Michael. He answered all my questions and asked me a bunch more and I filled out a questionnaire. A PERFECT formula was born!

Since then, my nutrition needs have changed based on racing, etc and everyone at Infinit has been fantastic in helping me get it spot on! We even tried a little protein which didn't work, but we managed to work the formula so that it provided all I needed.

Recently, Laurie became my Super Infinit Girl!! I had a bunch of formulas listed and failed to bring my old "right" formula bag with me to work when I ordered again for IMLOU. I ordered the WRONG ONE! This was Friday before the July 4th long weekend. On Friday night I realized it was the wrong one and called and emailed as soon as I could. Tuesday I was on the phone with Laurie, and she not only stopped the "wrong" formula, but got the right one done and out to me by Friday for a race over the weekend!

Not only is the Infinit product second to NONE, the people there are AMAZING and so very helpful. I can't wait to meet everyone in Louisville and say THANK YOU!

    Y'all are GREAT!

  4. During my first Ironman race in Western Australia (dec. 2009) I had horrible stomach problems. I made it through the run, but suffered from a questionable nutrition strategy that included, peanut-butter, honey and banana sandwich, potato chips for potassium, orange slices and the "bickies" that race organizers provided. Ironman is after all a catered event.

The next race was a 1/2 ironman distance with worse results off the bike. I'm not sure what possessed me to take that horrible sports drink, the one loaded with sugar and artificial colors. It starts with a G. I gulped 20 ounces at around mile 50. My stomach was in knots the entire 13 mile run course. I walked the last 7.

A friend mentioned Infinit. I trained with it, tested it on long weekend bricks. It tastes great and is easy on the tummy. I also teach spinning and have long days with little time to re-fuel. Infinit is good for a boost for regular training too.

As my second Ironman approached, I asked a triathlon coach about what would compliment the Infinit for race day. He said, "If you are taking Infinit, you don't need any solids." What, are you kidding me! 12 hours of motion and no solids. He assured me that it was sufficient fuel.

Ironman France was sponsored by Infinit. I forgot my special blend "ironcybil2010" at home and was fretting the whole flight across the pond. Upon arrival at the expo, I learned that Infinit's Ride and Run blend would be provided at the race. Long story short, I took 30 minutes off my marathon split, felt strong the whole way and had zero digestive problems. Wheaties ain't got nuthin on this stuff. Infinit is what champions are made of!

  5. INFINIT LETS THE SUN SHINE IN

I have been using Infinit nutrition for about a year and know how well it works for me. I ride long with ease knowing that my Infinit will not allow me to bonk due to nutritional mishaps. Infinit is my confidence as I head into mile 80 and start thinking of the upcoming run.
On a recent ride of “two loops” of the Ironman Madison course Infinit not only helped me stay strong it also stopped my riding partner from talking “smack” somewhere around mile 50. Let me explain. My riding partner is my husband who also has been using Infinit for about a year. However, for some reason on this day he declared himself “tired” of his nutrition and decided to only take in some of the new electrolyte drink distributed on the courses this year.
As we finished the first couple climbs of loop two, he said “O.K. what is our game plan? We need to start riding! Get your cadence up. Let’s GOOO!!”
Meanwhile I had been riding smart, drinking and staying in my zone two ironman training mode. Because of this, I said sure “LET’s GO” (I had plenty of energy and calories in me to support this).
So, the smack began. I kept on, asking “I thought we were RIDING! Let’s GOOO!! What is the plan? Why are you behind me? Why are you not keeping UP???”” Yes, he had started to slowly deteriorate shortly after his declaration of us needing a game plan. Meanwhile, I felt great and took off.
This went on for the duration of the remaining 30 or so miles and continued to get ugly for he who declared himself tired of Infinit! That particular day, I gave out some great watts, great speed in the hills and managed to “chick” my husband on the ride. I know that is not a great term but hey, you have to take in your nutrition.
So, guess who is back on the juice??
